Casa Vieira has been owned in the same family since 1989 and was formerly the oficial branch of Banco Nacional Ultramarino (BNU) from 1920 until 1931. According to historic documents from 1885 the house was used as a hospital and formerly as a court house.
The house has a big garden with 2 equipped warehouses, of which one could be transformed in a bathroom including showers. A cisterne with a capacity of 100.000L is filled up in the rainy season through the water system of the roof. An automatic hydraulic pump measures the water level in a separate water tank of 1000L and fills this tank up regularly. The tank ensures high pressure water supply for the kitchen sink, bathroom sink including toilet and shower.
